Replenish, Revitalize & Rejuvenate

With food as medicine, there’s no generic prescription. It’s not dose dependent nor confined to a start and end date. It’s not a one size fits all approach. The fundamentals of food as medicine lay in the ever-changing needs of an individual. These changes are caused by a myriad of factors, including lifestyle, environmental, genetics, disease states and life phases. The nutritional requirements of a child drastically differ from those of an older adult. The individualistic needs are sustained by foods that offer replenishment, revitalization and rejuvenation. We firmly believe in the powerful benefits of plant-based foods to support the ebbs and flows of health.

At the Nectary, our “medicine cabinet” is chocked full of fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, healthy fats and whole grains. We utilize the healing powers of plants, herbs, flowers and beneficial cultures. Plant-based diets markedly provide physical, mental and emotional health benefits. Plant-based diets can aid in weight control, stabilize blood sugars and improve lipid levels. Research heavily examines the benefits of plant-based diets on cardio-metabolic diseases, including heart disease, stroke, obesity and type 2 diabetes. Researchers conclude plant-based diets or components there of play a fundamental role in reducing risks for these diseases. If you’re into research and numbers, check out this study on the health effects of vegan diets or this article published on the cardio-metabolic benefits of plant-based diets.

In recent years, the gut-brain axis has come into the spotlight. Nearly 95% of your serotonin is produced in your gastrointestinal tract, your gut. Serotonin, a neurotransmitter, helps regulate sleep, appetite, mood and functions in pain management. When our food is properly digested and absorbed, it supports the efficiency of the nervous system. Once these neurotransmitters are sent to the brain, they create a domino effect of feel good emotions. So, the mental and emotional benefits of plant-based diets go hand and hand.

By incorporating healing juices, superfood smoothies and plant-based foods, our cleanses showcase every aspect of our hive. Coupled with the understanding that food as medicine is not a one size fits all approach, our cleanses can be customized to fit your personalized nutrition needs.
