Ounces of Wellness

“I’m looking for something for . What would you recommend?” If you’ve ever asked this question OR wanted to ask this question, you are not alone! Our food is medicine menu spans far and wide. It takes us some time to really get to know the products! In this blog post, we are beginning to break down the benefits of our wellness shots. Rather than list the benefit of each ingredient, we are dividing the wellness shots into benefit categories. This post focuses on digestive health, inflammation and energy. Fortunately, most of the wellness shots provide more than one benefit!

Digestion

An increasing amount of research suggests digestive health is paramount. Healthy gut function has been connected to a properly functioning central nervous system. The GI tract is lined with nerve cells that transmit signals to the brain, which in turn create domino like responses throughout the body. A relationship exists between diet and the gut microbiota, the complex community of microorganisms living in our gastrointestinal tract. Beneficial bacteria work to maintain local homeostasis, aid in immune function and support absorption. Poor diet, antibiotics and disease all affect the quality of the bacteria’s work. The result is inflammation and dysbiosis, which snowballs into a systemic response. So, you can see there is a big connection between digestive and overall health.

For your digestive health, we’re pouring:

Inflammation

The National Institute of Health hits the nail on the head with its definition of inflammation. "Inflammation has long been a well-known symptom of many infectious diseases, but molecular and epidemiological research increasingly suggests that it is also intimately linked with a broad range of non-infectious diseases, perhaps even all of them."

It’s important to note not all inflammation is bad. Inflammation is an integral pathway in our immune system. When cellular damage occurs, inflammatory markers are released to initiate a clean-up or repair response. If you get a cut, you want your body to respond to heal that wound. Inflammation becomes a concern when it chronically occurs.

To provide anti-inflammatory benefits, we’re pouring:

Aloe Vera

Cold-pressed Turmeric Juice

Cold-pressed Ginger Juice

Golden Triangle

Hot Shot

Noni Fire

Tao of Turmeric

Energy

Food is intrinsically linked to our mood and energy. According to Harvard’s Medical School, the inner workings of our digestive system affect both our digestive health and our mental state. Their research examines how certain foods affect our mood and energy, like sugar or ultra-processed foods. But we don’t really need the research for this one. When you feel good and nourished, you have more energy to go about your day. Food is medicine, plain and simple.

Seize the day with these wellness shots we’re pouring:
